AMP (ALLUVIUM MENTORING PROGRAM)

The Alluvium Mentoring Program (AMP) is partitioned into three stages according to students grade levels: elementary school, middle school, and high school. The first phase (elementary school)  provides academic interventions, computerized instruction in eight social skills plus a strategy for designing their own social skills. The second phase of the program (middle school) allows students to continue to learn the value of school and the skills they can learn, but it also helps them develop hopeful and exciting plans for the future. They also learn that they have choices among several future paths. In the third phase (high school), they learn to become active participants in planning their education. They do this first by learning to identify their strengths and needs, by setting their own goals, and then by learning a set of behaviors to use to express their ideas to others who can help them make their dreams come true; all with the assistance of a Mentor. Thus, within this program, students learn important skills that can be used for life.
